Great workers are good at staying on course when working towards their goals. Sometimes they may need to be agile, however, and do some course correction. They then find solutions to any challenges and work towards their chosen destination.
Such workers are also good at recognising their equivalent of kryptonite – the material that weakened Superman. These may be things that have a debilitating effect or, in the worst case, stop them functioning.
Different people have different kinds of kryptonite. These can be certain kinds events, weaknesses or personality characteristics. One person described this in the following way.
“My kryptonite used to be devouring news about politicians making bad decisions or negative things happening around the world. This did not help me or other people.”
“My strategy for managing this was to relax, recentre and clarify the real results I wanted to achieve. I rehearsed the next thing I wanted to do and then got a quick success on the way towards achieving the desired results.”
